Course Description: 

This course will continue the thesis preparation and support programme for students on the MESP programme that began in the Fall semester. Classes in this semester's course will include detailed review of different elements of the master's thesis and writing strategies associated with them, and sessions on grant writing and research ethics.  There will also be two further rounds of individual consultations to review and assist with thesis progress and preparation.  

Learning Outcomes: 

Understand in detail departmental expectations regarding thesis writing;  be able to write a well structured thesis; be able to follow CEU expectations with regard to research ethics; be able to write appropriately structured research grant applications. 

Assessment: 

This course is run on a pass/fail basis so grades will not be recorded. In order to pass the course students must: attend all classes; attend two individual thesis mentoring consultations; and complete three short written assignments: (thesis proposal; literature review sample; summary of planned methods).
