This core course in the Advanced Certificate in Visual Theory and Practice serves students from numerous different departments across the University, including Sociology & Social Anthropology, Gender Studies, History, Cultural Heritage Studies, International Relations, Public Policy, Political Science, and Human Rights. The course has run in the past in different departments in the University and is offered as a University-wide course in the academic year 2022-23. It provides a valuable opportunity for CEU students in the humanities and social sciences to express the knowledge they produce in their research through aural/visual media.
The course combines theory and practice to acquaint students with the principles of audio-visual production and research and is designed to expand on participants’ study by way of producing knowledge via visual and aural means that are complementary to the written components of students’ academic research. The course proposes a critical reflection on forms and processes of knowledge production alongside exercises that open new perspectives for students on their own research.
