Bachelor's
Campus:
Vienna
Course Open to:
Students on-site
Term:
Fall

Course Description:

This course introduces the mathematical theory of ordinary differential equations and its application to physical, biological and social systems. It focuses on first order differential equations, and fundamental solution techniques such as separation of variables and the use of integrating factors. It also covers the theory of existence and uniqueness of solutions, as well as algorithms for numerical integration. In the end of the course an introduction to partial differential equations is also given.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completing the course, students will be able to model systems using differential equations, obtain solutions analycally when possible, and numerically otherwise.

Assessment:

Homework (10%), Mid-term (40%), Final (50%)
